Born in Taiwan, Isabelle Fanchiu started her first classical piano lesson at age four and began studying at Yamaha Music School in Taipei soon after. She later attended Taipei Duen-Hua music academy, emphasized in classical piano and double bass performance. In 2002, Isabelle moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she was exposed to playing different styles of music through the school jazz band and theater.
